The emergency department is located on the main level and has its own entrance. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week*.

Visiting Hours
Please note: There are currently visitor restrictions in place due to COVID-19. Please visit www.nshealth.ca/temporaryclosures for up-to-date information.
Visitors are welcome daily between the hours of 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Please check with nursing staff if you want to visit outside of the standard visiting hours.
Parking
A $3 parking fee will be charged when you exit the parking lot. Please make sure you have the correct change before leaving the hospital.
There are a limited number of metered accessible parking spots. They are located between the main entrance and emergency entrance. These spaces are intended for short-term visits and are cost $1 per hour.
For those visiting on a frequent basis, discounted parking tokens can be purchased from the business office located on the main floor across from ambulatory care. The discounted tokens cost:
- Two for $5
- 10 for $20
- 20 for $30

Semi-private and Private Rooms in Nova Scotia Hospitals
- Private room: Includes one bed and one washroom. You can find current rates here.
- Semi-private room: Includes two beds separated by curtains and one washroom. You can find current rates here.
Space in our private and semi-private rooms is limited. The sooner we have your insurance information the more likely we are to be able to accommodate your request.
When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room.

TV Service
To arrange for TV connection, call 1-866-223-3686. Fees apply for this service.
Phone Service
For phone service, dial 899 directly from the patient room or call 1-800-760-8969. Fees apply for this service.

Inpatient Meals
All patients are provided with meals and snacks during their stay. If you follow a special diet or have food-related allergies or sensitivities, let us know when you arrive.

Hours of Operation:
Monday to Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The shop provides freshly ground coffee, specialty drinks, made-to-order sandwiches, breakfast treats and more.
Gift Shop

Monday to Thursday: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Please note: the gift shop is closed for the evenings in July and August.
The gift shop is operated by the Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary.
Bank Machines
A banking machine is located just inside the main entrance. Change machines are also located in the main lobby and in the emergency room waiting area.
Spiritual Spaces & Quiet Rooms
There is a spiritual space/chapel located on the main floor between intensive care unit and the emergency department. There are also a number of family/quiet rooms located throughout the building. Nursing staff can help you find one.
